Research has shown that
learners have different learning styles. Therefore, the issue whether it is
better to study alone or join a study group is a long-standing one. As far as I
am concern, joining a study group has many advantages. As examination
approaches, most students will feel that it is better for them to be around
their course mates or classmates for as much time as possible. It seems to work
for me too.
Firstly, being together
in the same room as other classmates helps students to concentrate on their
studies better. Seeing others doing revision will motivate them to do the same.
If they are studying in their room, they may get distracted. They might decide
to have a snack, have a chat with friends or exchanging massages with friends.
Anything rather than getting down to the business of studying,
Besides that, by
joining a study group, student will have access to each other’s notes, which
will be very helpful for them. Some students are better note-takers compared to
their friends, both in class and when they are taking notes from textbooks and
reference books. A study group therefore might add to the student’s individual
knowledge and will increase his or her chances of passing the examination with
flying colours
Last but not least, the
feeling of being part of a group will keep a student focused as he or she will
be more confident to sit for examination. Most students will feel that, if they
are with other friends, they are less likely to give up in the midst to their
preparation as they can always turn to their friends for advice, assistance and
support.
As a conclusion, by
joining a study group, students will be more motivated to excel in their
studies as they fell they are not alone and can get support from their friends
whenever they need it.
Thank you for read !!! J
